“
A lyrical, innovative memoir about sex, parenting, and addiction.

“
This gorgeous memoir from Fitzgerald is a collage of the author’s most potent writing… equal parts rock 'n' roll and lyrical musings, with sharp, jagged truths and moments of gooey softness.

The structure that dictates the pace of this collection is genius... some of the best writing I’ve ever encountered.

BIO
I am a mother, writer, and reluctant academic living and working in the Midwest. I have two books out with Feminist Press-- How Mamas Love Their Babies (2018) and Enjoy me among my ruins (2022). I also contributed to the anthology #WeToo: Essays on Sex Work and Survival. I am currently obsessing over my first novel, The Hog House Ranch, which I had the great pleasure of work-shopping at the prestigious Iowa Writers' Workshop in 2023.
The Hog House Ranch follows alcoholic protagonist Sagan through a whirlwind of working-class labor frets and a magical slot machine in which she becomes trapped. The Hog House Ranch also features House, a sentient brothel from the 19th century, Rat, a 14-foot rat with one eye, and Ghost of Josie Washburn, Filled with Bees, a linen lifter who repeatedly shoots herself in the head. Here's a link to my GFM if you want to support the book!
You can find my other publications at Autostraddle, VICE, LitHub, The Rumpus, Tits and Sass, Mutha Magazine, Pacific Standard, and others.
In 2018, I was invited to do a TEDx Talk on sex work and motherhood.
